Review: ARP-2600 Analog Vintage Synth

Hard-Core Synthesizer users: Do you want something truly historic, fascinating, and mesmerizing and absolutely mind boggling cool? The Arp 2600 Vintage Analog Synthesizer has been around since 1971. This antique jewel is a bit of an anomaly. While the ARP 2600 is upgradeable, it is not your typical modular synthesizer. The Synth modules are delivered via internal, fixed, prewired sound configurations. These sounds can be rewired with patch cords instead of having to carry around sound modules, making the ARP-2600 one of the more portable, easier to use synths of its era. With all of its switches, sliders and 3-VCO analog sound, the ARP 2600 is an instrument that any musical sound freak would drool to have. Users of this amazing instrument say that the ARP-2600 is one of the most user-expressive interfaces of any synthesizer they’ve ever used.Of course you have to know something about sound technology and signal flow to get creative with this synth, but isn’t that what true analog synth gurus are after?

Since the first ARP 2600 Synth was made in around 1971, there has been nearly 10 years worth of production and progression of the hardware. Users say that the very best sounding Arp-2600 were the early ones built before 1972, however, the instruments became more reliable as production continued. The ARP-2600 was considered a worthy competitor to the mini-moog. There is lots more history that can be found on the ARP-2600 Analog Synth here: CMS Discrete Synthesizers

Meanwhile, we think the information above has given you enough of an oversight to whet your appetite and perhaps place your bid on one of the best Analog Synthesizers ever made.
